Kidzfest Captains are natural leaders who are comfortable providing direction and support to support crew members. Captains are onsite for each day of the festival or work with the Volunteer Program Manager to arrange a substitute.
Captains are well supported by the Kidzfest Volunteer Team and receive specialized training!
Activity Captain
As an Activity Captain, you will set up and organize pre-prepared activities before you guide and support Activity Crew Members to welcome guests and assist them through the activities. Activity Captains give clear instructions and keep the activities running smoothly.
Responsibilities include:
- Direct and assist with activity setup as required
- Ensure there are enough volunteers and that each gets a break
- Communicate needs and concerns to the Volunteer Program Leader
- Complete the Daily Feedback Report and turn it into the Volunteer Program Leader
This role is well supported by the Volunteer Program Leader and includes special training.
Foodie Captain
If you love feeding hungry people then Foodie is for you! Receive food donations and coordinate organized distribution of food to fellow Volunteers and VIP guests.
This role required Foodsafe Certification that we will provide for a commitment of min of 3 shifts over the 3 day festival.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan, shop and prepare small amounts of food
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Guide and support Foodie Crew Members.
- Track donations and implement guidelines for distribution
- Communicate needs and concerns to Volunteer Program Leader.
- Complete a Daily Feedback Report and turn it in to the Volunteer Program Leader
This role is well supported by the Volunteer Program Leader and includes special training.
Workshop Captain
As a Workshop Captain you will lead a team to prepare and support a variety of short workshops delivered by professional artists. You will ensure many fast paced change over goes smoothly and on time.
Responsibilities include:
- Guide and support Workshop Production Crew Members
- Ensure equipment is working and required resources are ready
- Support the needs of the presenter and work with Volunteer Program Leader to problem solve
- Complete Daily Feedback Report and turn it in to Volunteer Program Leader
- Monitors schedule to stay on time
- Let presenters know when it’s a 5 min warning

Tiny Town Captain
The Tiny Town Captain guides and supports Tiny Town Crew Members to set up and maintain a safe, organized and clean activity area and lead guests through the stations/activities. Tiny Town is designed for our guests 5 years and under.
Responsibilities include:
- Set up a safe and orderly area
- Ensure guest limits are maintained
- Ensure Activity Leaders get enough shade, water a break, etc
- Communicate any needs or concerns to the Volunteer Program Leader
- Complete Daily Feedback Report and turn it in to the Volunteer Program Leader
This role is well supported by the Volunteer Program Leader and includes special training.
Box Office Captain
Are you a cool headed multitasker? Our Box Office Captaon is organized, has point of sale experience and is assertive and friendly. As Box Office Captain you will manage the ticket sales booth, providing a professional and welcoming entrance experience for all of our guests.
Responsibilities include:
- Selling tickets via cash and electronic debit and credit card system (training provided)
- Handing out wristbands and answering questions
- Tracking sales and counting float at shift changes
- Guide and support Box-Office Crew Members
- Complete Daily Feedback Form and turn it in to Volunteer Program Leader
- Communicate any needs or concerns to Volunteer Program Leader
